TRAINING HORSE PROGRAM

Our Training Horse Program provides each and every horse with a comprehensive foundation while promoting optimal physical development.

Ideal for horses of any discipline, we teach the basics and provide gentle exposure in a way that best prepares them for life ahead.

 

We start young horses, work with select problem horses on a case by case basis, and help horses and riders with fear and anxiety through our Fresh Start Program.

OUR PROCESS

We offer the most well rounded start for your young horse’s mind and body available.

Our process teaches them the skills they need to be successful while showing them an appropriate way to use their body. We begin building posture, strength, and fitness in a suitable way that can be carried on for the rest of their ridden lives.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Complete and well rounded foundation on the ground and under saddle

    • All basic groundwork yields
    • Leads appropriately
    • Stands tied
    • Introduction to the bridle through classical in hand work
    • Walk, Trot, Canter under saddle
    • Understands the basic aids under saddle
    • Rides out

  • Full Care Stall Board at Sycamore Seed Farm

    • Attentive care
    • Daily turnout
    • Am/pm feeding
    • Daily handling and grooming

  • Minimum of 5 sessions per week

  • Unlimited lessons during training dictated by the horse’s level of education at the time

  • Three month minimum to ensure deep and lasting change

  • Full outline of your horse’s education upon completion to provide you with a reference of your horse’s education moving forward

  • Bodywork with Grace Keeton from Nova Equine Renovations (additional fees apply). Work includes a unique blend of:

    • The Body Code
    • Craniosacral Therapy
    • Functional Indirect Osteopathic Techniques
    • We recommend each of our training horses get regular work done to ensure their comfort and success in our program.

  • 15% discount on ALL clinics

FACILITIES

Your horse will be boarded and cared for by Westfield Farm in the most attentive boarding program we know of.

The facilities available to us include a 150 x 200’ outdoor arena, a 86 x 204’ indoor arena, 80 foot permanent round pan, and 1000+ acres of available ride-out onto the Virginia State Arboretum.
